The Plaza Hotel and Casino to host Las Vegas Days Rodeo in November

The Plaza Hotel and Casino will once again host the Las Vegas Days Rodeo. This year’s event will run from November 11 through November 12 at the casino hotel’s outdoor equestrian center, the CORE Arena.

This year’s rodeo is sponsored by the Commission for the Las Vegas Centennial and the Plaza Hotel & Casino. It is also fully sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association.

Fans can enjoy several events during the rodeo, including bull riding, barrel racing, team roping, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, breakaway and bareback riding. Event winners will earn championship custom belts, as well as prize purses totaling $40,000.

Gates open at 5PM on November 11, with the event starting at 6PM. Guests will have access to historical exhibits, mutton busting, as well as a free whiskerino contest.

A coloring contest well be held for children in grades kindergarten through sixth. Children can print out and hand color one of the Plaza’s historic scenes and submit their entries through the facility’s website. Only entries signed by a parent or guardian will be eligible to win.

The Plaza will accept coloring contest entries until October 27 and will notify winners on November 3. The winning entries will be displayed at the rodeo.

The Plaza will hold two viewings of The City of Las Vegas: The Early Years documentary in its casino floor showroom. The film chronicles the first 20 years of the Vegas community, and production was funded by the Commission for the Las Vegas Centennial.

Guests can watch the film between noon and 6PM on November 11 and 12.
