According to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing, Sandra Douglass Morgan has resigned from her position as a member of the Caesars Entertainment board. This move comes shortly after accepting her new role with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Prior to being announced as the team's president in early July, Morgan served as a chairwoman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board. The SEC filing on Monday indicates that Morgan alerted Caesars officials of her departure from the board on Friday.
Morgan was first brought on as an independent director for the board in November of 2021.
The filing also stated that her departure "was not the result of any disagreement with (Caesars Entertainment) on any matter relating to the company’s operations, policies or practices."
Morgan's position with the Raiders marks the first black woman to serve as an NFL organization's team president. She's held several positions in the gaming industry, along with being the former Director of External Affairs for AT&T Services Inc. in southern Nevada.
Raiders Owner Mark Davis commented: "I am thrilled that Sandra has agreed to join the Raiders family. Her experience, integrity and passion for this community will be invaluable to our organization."
He added: "From the moment I met Sandra, I knew she was a force to be reckoned with. We are extremely lucky to have her at the helm."
In regard to her historic hiring with the Raiders, Morgan said: "I definitely never want to be the last…and I want to get to a point where there is no more firsts. We have so much more to do, and I'm excited to be at the helm of that growth and look forward to ushering in the new chapter for the Raiders."
