Americas Cardroom’s latest Venom tournament breaks records

Two poker players pocket more than $1m each as operator attracts 3,930 total entrants.

A guaranteed $10m prize pool helped Americas Cardroom’s latest Venom poker tournament break multiple records.

The online tourney had 3,930 total entrants, and two players made more than $1m each – all firsts for the poker operator.

The $10m GTD Venom was Americas Cardroom’s fifth Hold ’Em edition. The operator noted the guarantee has doubled in size since the $5m GTD Venom debuted in July 2019. The multi-day, multi-flight tourney runs four times per year, split between Hold ’Em and Progressive Knock Out (PKO) formats.

The final table was broadcast live on Twitch, with Michael Loncar and Justin Kelly serving as two of the commentators. The pair host the ACR Show on Twitch that runs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The third commentator was Chris Moneymaker, a recent ACR Team Pro addition and the 2003 WSOP Main Event champion.

Officials said the eight-player final table moved quickly, wrapping up in slightly more than 2.5 hours.

Online poker player “BabyBowser” was the last standing, taking home more than $1.5m. Player “sw33ney” took second place and won more than $1.015m.

ACR said this was the first time two $1m winners were guaranteed in the Venom tourney.

The makeup of the final table had an international flair, as there were two players from the US (including BabyBowser), and two each from the UK, Brazil and Canada.

“The $10m Venom was the biggest tourney in our history and a great success,” Moneymaker said in a statement. “The 3,930 total entrants made for our biggest turnout ever and because we fell only 70 buy-ins short of meeting the guarantee, we were more than happy to make up the small difference.”

Americas Cardroom joined the Winning Poker Network in 2011. The Winning Poker Network has been dealing cards since 2001.
