Maryland poker tournament to be hosted by Live! Casino & Hotel in August
The 2025 edition of the Maryland State Poker Championship represents the seventh time Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland has hosted the 22-event state championship.

Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland will once again host the Maryland State Poker Championship from August 27 – September 8, featuring traditional table games such as Texas Hold’em, Omaha and Seven-Card Stud while guaranteeing over $1.1m in winnings for participants.
The Maryland State Poker Tournament will take place from the Cordish Companies-affiliated property for a seventh time, located inside The Poker Room at Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland over the 13-day schedule.
“Last year, the tournament consisted of only 18 events and over $1.6 million was paid out, which was $500,000 over the guarantees,” Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland Director of Poker Christopher Angelo said.
“This year, with more events than ever before featuring more game variants and special events like the special one-day Labor Day holiday event, we hope to offer new and returning participants even more reasons to play. With expectations of even larger payouts than last year, this tournament series promises to showcase the best competition in the state at one of the nation’s premier poker rooms.”
Good to know: The Cordish Companies celebrated the grand opening of its newest property, Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana, on February 13, representing the first Land-side casino to be launched in the Shreveport-Bossier market
Both novice and expert poker players are encouraged to participate in the 22-event tournamentaccording to the casino-hotel.
The Labor Day event features a $500 buy-in with the chance to win $100,000 in guaranteed prize pool, while the Main Event includes a no-limit Hold’em championship, $2,200 buy-in and a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool.
Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland VP of Human Resources Gretchen Holzhauser joined Gaming America on The Huddle in May to discuss fellow opportunities for the property to build its presence within the community.
