Zimpler has received official certification as a payment institution in Brazil, authorized by the Central Bank.
With this authorization, Zimpler is now allowed to operate payment services and access other Open Finance ecosystem tools in Brazil. The move enables a smoother checkout experience by supporting direct transactions without redirecting users to banking apps.
With this development, Zimpler aims to strengthen its strategic position and operational framework in the Brazilian market, becoming a viable solution for businesses operating in the country.
Johan Strand, Zimpler CEO, said: “We are thrilled to receive this authorization from the Brazilian Central Bank. The recognition of Zimpler as a payment initiator reinforces our commitment to this local market, which offers a great opportunity for growth and value in a very dynamic and competitive environment.”
Andreas Rentner, Trade Commissioner and Country Manager of Business Sweden in Brazil, said: “This milestone showcases the strength of Swedish innovation and the mutual benefits that come from closer economic collaboration between Sweden and Brazil.
“Sweden has long been a leader in financial technology, and we are proud to see companies like Zimpler bring their experience and trusted solutions to contribute to Brazil’s dynamic digital economy.”
The Brazilian Open Finance ecosystem currently boasts over 64 million active consents and serves more than 42 million customers, according to Open Finance Brasil.

In a similar move, Zimpler recently became the first authorized payment initiator for Swish, Sweden’s equivalent of Pix, expanding its role within the Swedish financial system and positioning itself among European payments fintech companies.
The authorization by the Central Bank follows the company’s path in Brazil, following the opening of its São Paulo office in 2022.
