The District of Columbia Office of Lottery and Gaming has revealed Washington DC’s sports wagering handle for the month of November, posting a record monthly figure of $68.5m.
Handle
After recording back-to-back record monthly wagering handles in September and October 2024, Washington DC has surpassed itself again, with November’s handle of $68.2m marking another rise of 3.6% month-over-month. What’s more, this latest monthly wagering handle marks a notable rise of 117.6% year-over-year, reflective of the recent explosion in sports wagering engagement in the district over the past 12 months.
This fact is further highlighted by DC’s year-to-date (YTD) sports wagering handle, which now rests at $291.9m with just one month of 2024 remaining – a figure which far surpasses the $103.1m FY2023 wagering figure posted by the district.
Leading the way in handle this month was FanDuel, who took a total of $18.8m in wagers during the month of November in DC. Trailing them was DraftKings, who took a total of $6.7m.

Revenue
Regarding revenue, it was another strong month for DC, which has reported a gross gaming revenue figure of $8.9m, up by a sizable 152% year-over-year and more than doubling from the $4.2m posted in October 2024.
This latest update to the district’s figures also points to a fast-growing YTD GGR, which now rests at $34m. Again, FanDuel led the way in GGR figures, posting a total GGR of $5.5m, ahead of rival DraftKings, which generated $2.2m in the district.
It has been a busy week for operator FanDuel, who alongside DraftKings has been subject to an anti-trust investigation, launched a new RG tool and strengthened its government relations team with new hires, all within the last three days.
Despite being led by FanDuel in both handle and revenue in Washington DC, DraftKings in fact only launched its sportsbook in the district in July and has quickly cemented itself as one of the jurisdictions leading sport betting options.
Tax
Finally, tax figures from Washington DC’s sports wagering market total a monthly figure of $2.1m for November, bringing the YTD total up to $6.9m in tax generated by sports betting in the jurisdiction.
