New Jersey’s December gaming revenue up 13%

Sports wagering revenue saw the largest increase to $87.7m, up nearly 50%.
The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE) has announced the state’s December 2022 total gaming revenue results. The Garden State’s combined casino, race track and other operations amounted to $454.8m, which represents a 13% annual increase.
Casino win for New Jersey’s nine casino hotel properties was $215.6m for the month, which reflected a 1.8% increase compared to $211.8m for December 2021. The year-to-date casino win stood at $2.8bn, which was a 9% rise from the prior-year period.
Meanwhile, internet gaming win also rose by 13.7% to reach $151.5m, compared to the $133.2m garnered in December 2021. The YTD win grew by a healthy 21.6%, reaching $1.6bn compared to $1.37bn for the prior-year period.
New Jersey has seen a number of big online gaming launches in recent months, which helps explain these positive results. BetMGM launched Play’n Go, a popular slots brand, in the state last October, while Resorts Digital Gaming did the same through its partner, Greco, in November 2022.
Sports wagering revenue for casinos, race tracks and their partners saw a successful December, increasing by 49% to reach $87.7m. However, there was a YTD decline for sports wagering in the Garden State, with a 6.5% decline when comparing 2022 to 2021’s results.
Last month, the NJDGE reported that November 2022 saw total gaming revenue in the state hit $441.1m. This signified a minor increase of 0.3% when compared to the $439.6m reported for the same period in 2021.
