Resorts World submits supplemental application to NYSGC for casino license
The operator stated it is the ‘strongest contender’ for a full commercial casino license from the NYSGC, projected to cost $7.5bn between developing the site and community benefits.

Resorts World New York City, in an effort to reaffirm its position as the “strongest contender” for a full commercial casino license from the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC), submitted its supplemental application to New York State Gaming Facility Location Board on October 15.
“This is more than a bid—it’s a promise kept to the people of New York,” Genting Americas East President Robert DeSalvio said.
“No other project will come online faster, generate more financial impact, create more jobs or send more revenue to the state’s education fund, the MTA and local communities than Resorts World New York City.”
The integrated resort has a projected construction cost of $7.5bn between development of the facility and community benefits, as well as an opening date of June 29, 2026, said to be “at least four years” earlier than two fellow proposals.
The operator also stated Resorts World New York City would create over 100,000 construction, permanent, indirect and induced jobs, while featuring a 500,000 sq ft casino hosting 10,800 gaming positions and a 7,000-seat entertainment venue.

“Resorts World is on the verge of turning Queens into a global destination – one all New Yorkers deserve,” Queens Borough President Donovan Richards said.
“The jobs, economic opportunity, and amenities in this proposal will change families for generations to come, faster and at a larger scale than anyone else.”
On October 14, MGM Resorts International subsidiary, MGM Yonkers, officially withdrew its application for a commercial casino license from consideration by the NYSGC. MGM Yonkers was thought to hold an advantage in the race given its existing racino in New York, but pulled out even after advancing to the New York State Casino Gaming Location Board.
