Dominican authorities seize 19 illegal slot machines

Law enforcement authorities in the Dominican Republic have seized 19 illegal slot machines during a raid on an unauthorized gambling collection center in Capotillo, a neighborhood in Santo Domingo. 

The operation, led by the Central Intelligence Directory (DINTEL) and the Public Ministry of the National District, also resulted in the confiscation of suspected narcotics.

Authorities executed the action under judicial order No. 2025-AJ0048586 and two individuals, Juan José Puntier Feliz, 25, and Yerry Vallejo, 32, were arrested at the scene. 

Police reported that neither man had identification at the time of the intervention. Both are now in custody and have been referred to the Public Ministry for further legal processing.

In addition to the illegal gambling machines, officers seized approximately 3.6 pounds of what is presumed to be marijuana, two separate quantities of suspected cocaine, a traditional scale and a digital weighing device.

Authorities described the four-level building on which the raid occurred as a collection centre for illegal slot machine operations, indicating potential ties between unlicensed gambling activity and broader criminal conduct.

This intervention is part of a crackdown on unregulated gaming operations in the country, as regulators and law enforcement continue to tighten control over unauthorised gambling activity in residential areas.
