BetBlocker reaches 20,000 active users in Brazil

The UK-registered software has surpassed 20,000 active users in Brazil since the start of 2025

BetBlocker, a UK-based charity offering free tools to help people restrict access to gambling content, has surpassed 20,000 active users in Brazil since the beginning of 2025. The organization noted that uptake in the country is outpacing all other markets by a wide margin.

BetBlocker is an app available across multiple platforms and blocks both regulated and unregulated gambling operators. Users can choose to apply for continuous restrictions or schedule specific times for blocking access. 

This surge in BetBlocker’s Brazilian user base coincides with ongoing regulatory developments in the national market, such as the Brazilian Finance Minister Fernando Haddad recently calling for tougher taxation on betting companies, arguing that they generate large profits while contributing little in jobs or tax revenue. 

Besides that, local betting operators have announced plans to establish a new industry union to represent their interests and engage with the fast-developing regulatory efforts with a unified voice.

Betblocker also includes features for app-level restrictions and works independently of national regulatory frameworks.

The company says its main goal is to reduce barriers between those facing gambling harm and the help they need, to ensure that the most vulnerable are the least likely to receive this type of content.
