New York: Casino figures rise for November as wagering handle hits $2.2bn

The New York State Gaming Commission has released its gambling figures for the month of November, highlighting a sports wagering handle of $2.27bn, alongside a gross gaming revenue (GGR) generated by the state’s casinos of $457m.
Sports wagering: Handle & GGR
Settling just shy of October’s record-breaking monthly wagering handle of $2.32bn – New York has posted another strong handle of $2.27bn for November, a number which represents a 7.8% rise year-over year. Further, this latest wagering handle also represents the second-largest figure posted by the state for the fiscal year 2024/25 so far, bringing the total handle for the period up to $14.8bn.
Regarding GGR, November did, indeed, see New York take the highest figure for the year 2024/25 so far, as the Gaming Commission reported a revenue figure of $231.6m, a significant rise from the figure of $176.3m reported from the month prior. Additionally, this figure marks a notable increase when compared to the now second highest figure of the period, which was the $204.7m GGR recorded in September 2024.
Sports wagering: Operator’s results
FanDuel once again saw the highest figures for the month of November in New York – recording a sports wagering handle of $921.2m and subsequently earning a GGR figure of $102.6m. These latest figures also come in the wake of the news that the operator had managed to reach a settlement agreement in its MLBPA lawsuit during the month of November.
Coming in just behind FanDuel was DraftKings, which took $745.4m in wagers during November, resulting in a GGR figure of $77.1m. Despite its high earnings in New York month-after-month, the company reported a net loss of almost $293.7m for Q3 2024.
These two operators continue to set the standard in the state of New York, as third highest-earner Fanatics reported a significantly lower sports wagering handle of $170.2m, alongside a GGR figure of $13.8m. <section class=”news-chart my-3″ data-id=”286″></section>
Sports wagering: Net revenue
Net revenue reported by the state’s Gaming Commission was the highest recorded figure for the period of the fiscal year 2024/25 so far, hitting $113.5m for the month. This represents an increase of 42.2% year-over-year, alongside an additional rise from the $86.4m recorded during October. The previous highest figure of $100.3m for the 2024/25 period was recorded in September.

Casino figures: GGR & Tax
With regard to the state’s casino figures, New York state recorded a total GGR of $56.9m during November, up 5.8% in comparison to October and 5.04% year-over-year. These latest figures from November bring New York’s total GGR for the 2024/25 year so far up to $457.2m.
Gaming tax also increased year-over-year, hitting $13.7m for November 2024, compared to the $12.8m posted from November 2023. Tax figures also saw a marginal increase of 2.2% when compared to results from the month previous. Overall gaming tax for the year so far currently sits at $346.5m.
Casino figures: Results by game
Slots were once again the biggest earner of the state’s casino industry in November 2024, generating $40.3m in GGR, up from $40.2m recorded in October. Further, GGR from slots also rose by 8.6% year-over-year.
Coming in behind slots were table games, which generated $14.98m during the month of November, a rise of 17.3% month-over-month – but a decrease of 5.3% year-over-year. Finally, Poker table revenue reached a figure of $954,211 in November, and have only exceeded the $1m mark once this year so far, in August. <section class=”news-chart my-3″ data-id=”287″></section>

Rivers Casino and Resort was the state’s highest earner during November, posting a GGR revenue figure of $17.8m, closely trailed by Resorts World Catskills, which reported a GGR figure of $16.5m.
