Shelley White to retire from Responsible Gambling Council

The Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) has announced the retirement of its CEO, Shelley White. The Canadian group serves as an independent non-profit organization that is committed to problem gambling prevention.
The RGC said White will finish out the year in her current role and is scheduled to retire in December.
White has held the position of CEO of the council for the past seven years. She accepted the role in 2017.
The Responsible Gambling Council released a statement on social media to celebrate White’s career and to wish her well.
The group said, “The RGC Staff and Board of Directors would like to congratulate Shelley White MA, ICD.D, our beloved CEO, on her upcoming retirement in December 2024. Shelley’s commitment to RGC and the people, organizations and communities we serve globally is unparalleled.
“We will celebrate Shelley and the remarkable contribution she has made to RGC as her retirement date approaches.”
The Ontario commercial market went live two years ago and is the first Canadian province to offer iGaming to its residents. Up to now, local lotteries have traditionally dominated Canada’s gambling sector.
In related news, the Ontario Government recently initiated a $9m three-year investment plan through the Responsible Internet Gambling Fund (RIGF). The local government made the announcement during the Responsible Gambling Council’s annual Discovery Conference.
The additional funding will pave the way for the Responsible Gaming Council to “to further enhance its consumer education campaigns, expand community outreach programming, and build partnerships with local community groups to deliver its message to more Ontarians.”
Part of the RIGF funding plan is designed to “help ensure a holistic consumer education and prevention strategy is in place and information and resources are available to better support all those at risk of experiencing harm through gambling.”
