Michigan iGaming and sports betting makes $239.5m in May revenue
Gross receipts were up 2% month-over-month.
Michigan’s commercial and Tribal operators have released their sports betting and iGaming results for May.
During the month, the Michigan Gaming Control Board posted a combined revenue of $239.5m. The total reflects both statewide sports betting and iGaming revenue. Gross receipts also grew by 2% when compared to April.
Michigan’s iGaming gross receipts reached $198.6m during the month of May, while its gross sports wagering receipts totaled $40.9m.
Though the state reported increases in iGaming activity during the month, numbers fell in May when it came to online sports betting.
The Great Lakes State posted a total internet sports betting handle of $343.7m. This reflects a dip of nearly 14% when compared to online wagers placed during April.
The state reported iGaming and internet sports betting adjusted gross receipts (AGR) that reached $206.8m during May. In a breakdown of the monthly total, iGaming contributed $178.7m while internet sports betting brought in another $28.1m.
May iGaming and internet sports betting AGR rose by 2.6% and 1.2% month-over-month respectively. When compared to results from May 2023, iGaming AGR increased by 31.9%, while sports wagering grew by 27.7%.
During the month of May, operators reported that they submitted $38.8m in state taxes. iGaming contributed $37m in taxes and fees, while internet sports betting chipped in another $1.8m.
In other state news, Michigan recently welcomed two new BetMGM online slot games, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Cheers.
These games are the latest release of BetMGM’s TV and blockbuster-themed movie and show slot titles, joining the recently launched Star Trek: The Next Generation, The Godfather and Charlie’s Angels games.
