Coljuegos and the Government of Chocó collaborate to combat illegal betting
The governor has voiced support for this collaboration.
Coljuegos and the Government of Chocó have teamed up to ‘combat the criminal structures that are financed through illegal gambling’ through a new legality pact with departments in Tolima, Huila, Sucre and Chocó.
Coljuegos President Marco Emilio Hincapié commented, “The department of Chocó has great social needs. That is why, from our administration, we are committed to prosecuting illegality and ensuring that health resources reach the territories that need them most.
“We know that in Chocó there are situations of illegal gambling. Municipalities in the San Juan sector are affected by Keno, a game that is not authorized and for which we are working to build a regulation. We also see that raffles that operate without authorization and that go against the provisions of the law are common.”
Chocó Governor Nubia Carolina Córdoba discussed the importance of fostering a safe and legal gambling environment and the potential positive impact it can have on the local industry.
She said, “This is an opportunity for us, together, to fight against illegality and corruption, and to ensure that the resources that come from this monopoly can result in the well-being of the citizens who need it most.
“With this pact we are on the road to legality so that games of luck and chance are an engine for the health of the people of Chocó.”
Coljuegos serves Colombia as its regulatory body for games and luck and chance.
The organization maintains a philosophy of fostering growth within the industry through sustainable methods. Several notable sites, including Betplay, Rushbet and Codere, follow Coljuegos’ regulations. It recently set a deadline for a responsible gaming action plan for operators in the area.
