Swedish affiliate Leadstar Media is expanding its portfolio in Canada – but with a focus specifically on its French-speaking market.
The launch of Leadstar's new website will be the affiliate's first French-speaking project targeting players outside of France.
Over 20% of Canadians speak French, as per the company, and it will now serve players in both French and English languages within Canada.
Louis Jouhet, Leadstar Media General Manager of Operations, said: "After seeing a high percentage of users accessing our French language platforms from Canada, we felt it was necessary to expand our product with a new website that has tailored content for French Canadian bettors."
Meanwhile, Jacob Ljunggren, Director of Operations, added: "We have experienced significant growth for our products in Canada and France in the past couple of years, and French-speaking people in Canada are the natural next target group for us.
"Canada has the third-largest population of any country in North America, and Canadians have a big interest in both sports and betting. It's a market that possesses substantial growth potential in both the long and short term."
With the North American affiliate market expanding rapidly since the legalisation of online sports betting in multiple states – and legalised iCasino in selected states – Leadstar has also targeted a number of Spanish-speaking US residents.
Elsewhere within the US and Canada, affiliates like KaFe Rocks, XLMedia, Better Collective and Catena Media have been making significant strategic moves in recent months.
Catena, for example, even sold its prize European asset this week – AskGamblers.
The main aim of that transaction was likely to provide liquidity for its continuing North American expansion.
