Louisiana sports betting bill advances to Governor’s desk

The Louisiana legislature advanced a bill that would put sports betting on the ballot for voters this November.
The bill now heads to the desk of Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards.
If signed, members of Louisiana’s 64 parishes will vote to authorize sports wagering on a parish-by-parish basis.
Lawmakers still must deliberate on where sports betting could take place, whether at casinos or online, the types of sports to be wagered on and the tax rate.
