Circa Sports has announced plans to open and operate a new sportsbook at the Legends Bay Casino. The new casino, owned by Olympia Gaming, is scheduled to open on August 30 at the Legends at Sparks Marina shopping mall, which is located east of Reno along I-80.
Olympia Gaming officials claim that the Circa Sports sportsbook at Legends will be the largest in Northern Nevada. Circa Sports also operates the world's largest sportsbook in Las Vegas.
Circa owner Derek Stevens said: “We’d like to have Circa Sports grow in Nevada as well as other states. I’ve wanted to get to Northern Nevada for a while now. I just had to find the right fit. I knew right away that this was the right spot.”
The Reno-Sparks area has not been home to a new from-the-ground-up casino for more than two decades. Once the Circa sportsbook opens, it will be able to accommodate about 140 people. The sportsbook will feature several seating options and multiple 60-inch TVs.
Olympia Gaming COO DeCourcy Graham said the company was impressed with Circa’s project and wanted to get involved because of its approach to sportsbooks.
“It was about a year ago that we started talking with them and I toured the (Circa) property and met with Derek and we were just so impressed with the project and specifically how front and central the sportsbook experience was.
“We thought, ‘Wow, that would be something really engaging to have in Northern Nevada.
“To have something different for the consumer in that market we thought was an important amenity versus having a typical leased-out sportsbook.”
The Legends Bay location will be Circa’s sixth Nevada casino. Circa’s other Las Vegas facilities include, the Circa flagship downtown, the D Las Vegas, Golden Gate, Tuscany and The Pass.
Circa has plans to enter Illinois later in the year. The company currently operates in Colorado and Iowa, as well as in Nevada.
