The platform’s arrival on the island is just in time for Super Bowl LVI.

BetMGM has launched Puerto Rico’s first regulated sports betting platform in partnership with the Casino del Mar at La Concha Resort. It is now accepting wagers at the San Juan-based beach resort through 12 kiosks and five betting windows.

The New Jersey-based online sports betting operator also plans to launch its mobile betting app in Puerto Rico in the coming months.

The launch has arrived in time for players to bet on Super Bowl LVI. Puerto Rico has not had legal sports betting prior to now. This is also the first time BetMGM has launched an operation beyond the Continental US.

"This is a monumental day for BetMGM as it marks the launch of our first operation outside of the US mainland," said BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt. "Casino del Mar delivers exceptional guest experiences and is an ideal partner as we look to extend our brand in Puerto Rico."

Sigfrido de Jesús, Casino del Mar's General Manager, said: "We are very excited to kick off sports betting at Casino del Mar through this important strategic alliance with BetMGM. In Puerto Rico, there is a wide base of sports fans who will now add the possibility of becoming winners to the excitement of their favorite sports games and matches."

BetMGM plans to open a full-scale retail sportsbook at La Concha Resort later this year as part of the company’s plans for further expansion.
