State regulator says company can provide solutions to licensed sportsbooks and lotteries.

Genius Sports Limited, a data, technology and commercial provider that powers the ecosystem connecting sports, betting and media, on Friday said it has been granted a permanent sports wagering license by the West Virginia Lottery Commission.

Genius Sports now is operational in 13 US states, offering official data, streaming and marketing solutions to sportsbooks and lotteries.

West Virginia was the fifth US state to offer legal and regulated sports betting when it launched in 2018.

“Genius Sports is fully committed to supporting the development of, and operating in, regulated territories in partnership with fully licensed sportsbooks,” Mark Locke, CEO of Genius Sports, said in a statement. “West Virginia remains at the forefront of liberalization in the US and one of the most proactive proponents of legalized sports wagering.”

Locke added he is, “honored that Genius Sports was awarded this license to provide our services in the Mountain State. Our sportsbook partners will continue to utilize our solutions to help them thrive in this rapidly growing market.”

Genius Sports said its technology is used in more than 150 countries worldwide, empowering sports teams to capture, manage and distribute their live data and video, driving their digital transformation and enhancing their relationships with fans.

The company has formed partnerships with more than 400 sports leagues and federations globally, including many of the world’s largest such as the NFL, EPL, FIBA, NCAA, NASCAR, AFA and PGA.
