SuperBook Sports to launch sportsbook at Colorado’s Lodge Casino on June 25

SuperBook Sports will open a state-of-the-art retail sportsbook at Lodge Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado this Friday, June 25.

Lodge Casino is owned and operated by Colorado-based Jacobs Entertainment, which partnered with SuperBook last April. SuperBook’s flagship sportsbook is at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino and this will be their first sportsbook outside of Nevada.

SuperBook Sports' Head of Marketing, Kristin Mackey, said, "We look forward to creating an experience not only the day of the opening, but every day, where both the most sophisticated players along with novice sports bettors feel like they can sit back and enjoy the game. We are creating an atmosphere that is grounded in the traditional sports book experience."

The grand opening will include an appearance from former Denver Broncos legend Mark Schlereth, who is set to make the first ever wager at the sportsbook.

The sportsbook is located on the second floor Lodge Casino and encompasses approximately 7,000 square feet with 28 televisions. There are three betting windows for patrons to wager at.

SuperBook is also rolling out a mobile wagering app in Colorado.

Jay Kornegay, VP, Las Vegas Hotel & Casino SuperBook, said, “It is a perfect fit for our initial expansion outside Las Vegas. “We will continue to focus on what sets us apart: better odds, favorable pricing and an extensive wagering menu. Having a partner with the stellar reputation and well-known brand of The Lodge will only make us that much better."

Colorado retail sportsbooks have so far struggled to bring bettors in the doors. In April online wagers made up $242m, or 99%, of all handle.

The Colorado mobile market is heavily competitive with at least 22 online operators currently active. Another factor driving online versus retail success – besides the pandemic – is that Colorado’s mountain gaming towns of Black Hawk, Cripple Creek and Central City are a distant drive from most of the state’s residents.

Casinos are hoping tourism picks up in the summer months as Covid restrictions go out the window.

JJ Garcia, VP of Operations for The Lodge & Gilpin Casinos, is banking on Kornegay’s expertise to drive traffic to the new sportsbook.

“Having Jay Kornegay lead this exciting opportunity, along with his reputable team, we have no doubt that Colorado fans are sure to appreciate the knowledge and experience they bring to the market,” Garcia said.
