Positives for casinos as Clark County removes local Covid-19 mitigation plan
The County will revert to pre-pandemic guidelines June 1.
The local Covid-19 mitigation plan enforced by Clark County in Nevada will be removed on June 1, meaning casinos and gaming venues in the area will no longer need to follow strict guidelines.
Officials from the County say that due to more vaccinations, lower infection rates and normal hospitalization rates, the restrictions will be lifted.
“Our community has made huge strides in containing the virus, and we will continue to work with all our partners to keep our caseloads and local hospital capacity in check,” said Clark County Commission Chairman, Marilyn Kirkpatrick. “As we celebrate this milestone in getting back to normal life, we also want to remind our community that we need to continue looking out for the health and safety of each other.”
Once the old plan is gone, venues will no longer need to adhere to the 80% capacity rule and can being operating at full capacity.
The new guidance says that those who have been vaccinated do not need to wear masks in crowds and in many indoor locations.
Despite this, the local authority insists that those who have not been vaccinated should book an appointment to receive their first dose.
The County also said that private businesses and organizations will be required to tell their employees and patrons to wear face coverings.
“All of the cities and Clark County have worked together to help get our community vaccinated and to take the necessary steps to safely reopen,” said Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman.
Henderson Mayor Debra March added: “While the Covid-19 virus is far from eradicated, the widespread availability of effective vaccines has greatly lowered the risk to the community and it is time to loosen restrictions. By continuing to follow the guidelines established by the CDC, we can safely transition Clark County residents back to their pre-pandemic lifestyle with family, friends and co-workers.”
