Genius Sports Group will distribute the National Football League’s (NFL) data feeds.

Genius, a sports data and technology firm that supports sports leagues with data management, has previously worked with the English Premier League, PGA tour and EuroLeague Basketball.

Now the group will incorporate its data services to improve NFL fan experiences by using personalised data-driven technology.

Genius will become the NFL's main distributor of real-time play-by-play statistics, Next Gen Stats data, and the league’s official betting data provider to media companies and betting operators worldwide. It will also gain the right to distribute live audio game feeds to sportsbooks internationally.

The pair will combine to develop a joint technology centre that will drive the future of NFL betting through accurate and fast data feeds to fans.

With legalized sports betting growing in America, the NFL plans to use official league data to ensure fans have the best user experience and are protected.

Kevin LaForce, SVP of media strategy and business development for the NFL said: “We’re excited to welcome Genius Sports to the NFL family.

“We look forward to working with Genius as we continue to innovate and enhance NFL content on media and betting platforms.”

Mark Locke, CEO of Genius Sports added: “Genius is proud and delighted to partner exclusively with the NFL to establish a new era of digital fan engagement for professional sports leagues everywhere.

“Our technology leads the world in the convergence of official data, betting, streaming, and digital media and we are excited to bring our unique capabilities to the world’s preeminent sports league.”
