Nevada gaming revenue hits $772m in February, down 26% y-o-y
Nevada casinos reported February revenue of $772m, a decline of 26% year-on-year and a slight uptick from January.
Figures from the Nevada Gaming Control Board show revenue grew approximately $10m between the first and second months of 2021 but Las Vegas casinos continued to struggle relative to the rest of the state.
The Strip reported win of $384m for the month, which was down 42% y-o-y. Table games at Strip casinos were off 48% for a haul of $160m, while slots generated $189m for a 34% decline.
Elsewhere in southern Nevada, Laughlin was down 31%, North Las Vegas declined 12% and downtown Las Vegas fell 7%.
According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, visitor volume for the region was 1.54m in February, a 54% decline y-o-y. Total occupancy was 42%, up 10% from January.
McCarran International Airport reported a 95% drop in international passengers from the year prior.
Other areas of Nevada reported revenue increases. South Lake Tahoe casinos were up 16%, unincorporated Washoe County grew 22% and Carson Valley rose 6%.
Sportsbooks across the state saw handle of $554m, the highest ever for February. Revenue was $31.8m, a drop of 16% y-o-y.
The Super Bowl accounted for $136m of wagers. Mobile sports betting made up 57% of the month’s wagers.
