Illinois casinos generate $176.5m throughout May 2025

The Illinois Gaming Board has released the financial performance of the state’s casinos throughout May 2025, including a 22.7% increase year-over-year for a total of $176.5m in adjusted gross revenue (AGR).
Electronic gaming devices represented nearly $132.9m of the state’s total AGR throughout May 2025, while table games managed to generate the remaining $43.6m, equating to increases of 23.4% and 19.3% year-over-year, respectively.
The state of Illinois reportedly collected almost $33.7m from operators for tax allocations, while the local areas in which each property is currently located split the additional $10.9m of remaining tax revenue.
Rivers Casino Des Plaines reported a May 2025 AGR of nearly $45.5m, the highest of any property in Illinois and representing a slight 1.6% increase from the prior year period.
Wind Creek Illinois, Bally’s Chicago and Hard Rock Casino Rockford managed to generate $18.6m, $12.2m and $13.3m of AGR throughout the month, respectively, while Grand Victoria Casino was also a top-earner for May 2025 by reporting $12.5m of gaming revenue.
Fairmount Park reported its May 2025 AGR to the Illinois Gaming Board for the first time, having originally debuted during 2024 and earning nearly $1.2m in electronic gaming device revenue, not yet offering table games at the time of writing.

Illinois lawmakers also recently chose to approve a state budget which will enforce a $0.25 per wager tax on sports betting operators for the first 20 million wagers taken, and $0.50 for every bet thereafter.
In response, FanDuel and DraftKings have both reportedly chosen to implement a $0.50 transaction fee for all bets placed by Illinois residents to help offset potential losses faced by the new per wager tax.
