Key Points
- BetMGM & MGM Resorts have announced new RG collaborations
- The pair have both partnered with the BCLC & UNLV
- MGM Resorts has also donated $180,000 to Kindbridge Research Institute
Operators BetMGM and MGM Resorts have simultaneously announced new partnerships that will see them both pledge donations towards problem gambling initiatives in the North American market.
Regarding BetMGM, the operator has officially announced the expansion of its Kindbridge Behavioral Health program across the US – building on a prior agreement that saw the pair initially team up in 2023.
Commenting on this latest partnership, Rhea Loney, BetMGM Chief Compliance Officer, said, “Responsible gaming is a focal point of our operations, and we will continue to invest in programs that promote player protection and well-being. Expanding our partnership with Kindbridge ensures that essential support services are always within reach for those who need it.”
Elsewhere, MGM Resorts has also unveiled a donation of $180,000 to the Kindbridge Research Institute – in support of the development of responsible gambling strategies and research studies into the health effects of sports betting. This donation comes 12 months after MGM Resorts donated $100,000 to the Kindbridge Research Institute in March 2024.
Moreover, both BetMGM and MGM Resorts are set to be partnering with the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) to increase RG messages from GameSense within the pair’s respective retail and online sportsbook platforms through the month of March. The collaborative effort will also see GameSense Advisors stationed at the operators’ retail sportsbooks across Canada.
Good to know: The month of March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month
In addition to the BCLC partnership, the two operators have also entered into a partnership extension arrangement with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) to expand community outreach via the engagement with law students at the University. As part of the collaboration, numerous responsible gambling sessions will be run at the university.
Sarah Gonzales, Director of Graduate Programs, William S. Boyd School of Law, UNLV, spoke on the news, saying, “Our collaboration with MGM Resorts has been a valuable learning experience for Boyd law students, enhancing their understanding of gaming regulations through real-world exposure. Exploring the GameSense program firsthand helps them grasp the importance of responsible gaming, especially as more jurisdictions require such important initiatives.”
