- McGrady has been appointed as BetVictor’s official Safer Gambling Ambassador in Canada
- He will now use his platform to promote safe betting practices via BetVictor’s RG tools in the region
Operator BetVictor has announced the appointment of seven-time NBA All-Star, Tracy McGrady, as its new Safer Gambling Ambassador in Canada.
As part of his new role as Safer Gambling Ambassador, McGrady will now promote sustainable gaming practices by encouraging BetVictor players to interact with the operator’s range of responsible gambling tools. These tools have been made available to players in the Canadian region across both online casino games and sports betting markets.
During his time as a professional NBA player, McGrady’s 16-year career saw him play at teams including the Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons, Houston Rockets, Orlando Magic, New York Knicks, San Antonia Spurs and Toronto Raptors.
Commenting on this new chapter in his career, McGrady said, “I’m delighted to continue my close partnership with BVGroup and become BetVictor’s Safer Gambling Ambassador in Canada. Safer gambling is an important issue across Canada, and I look forward to helping to promote this message alongside BetVictor to encourage Canadian customers to bet and play safely and responsibly.”
For BetVictor, this latest announcement follows a range of collaborative efforts between the brand and both former and current athletes – most recently, the company acted as the official betting partner of British boxer Joe Joyce for his rematch against Zhilei Zhang.
The company also underwent a corporate rebranding to BVGroup in June 2023. However, the group was then quickly subject to a CA$30,000 ($21,700) penalty by the AGCO for offering bets on a junior hockey game.
Speaking on the latest news, BVGroup COO, Brent Almeida, said, “We are thrilled to have signed Tracy McGrady to BetVictor to promote Safer Gambling. Tracy is a perfect role model, with an amazing career across 16 seasons in the NBA. Aligning with him is a perfect fit for the BetVictor brand.”
