UNLV denies casino executive offer to pay Matthew Sluka

The university said there is ‘no chance’ of working out a deal.
Las Vegas’ Circa executive Mike Palm recently reached out to the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) to make an offer to pay the team’s former quarterback Matthew Sluka $100,000, according to a recent Las Vegas Review-Journal local report.
Sluka has claimed that the university promised to pay him $100,000 and announced earlier this week that he intends to “redshirt the remainder of the season.” He said he believes the school has failed in its verbal commitment to pay his asking price.
However, Circa CEO Derek Stevens and VP of Operations Mike Palm agreed to help with Sluka’s salary and said it “would be in the best interest of the community to do their part to help UNLV during a historic football season.”
Palm said in an interview with the Review-Journal, “Derek and I talked about the situation and thought it would be worth it for $100,000 to keep the Rebels’ playoff hopes alive.”
Palm contacted the university to make an offer to pay Sluka so that he can keep playing.
According to the local report, Palm’s offer was rejected and was told by the university that “there was no chance of such a deal being worked out.”
The university claims that Sluka “has already left the program” so a possible deal is not on the table.
