Nevada posts $1.16bn in August gaming revenue

The Nevada Gaming Control Board has published its August gambling report. Revenue statewide reached $1.16bn for the month.
Overall state gaming revenue fell by nearly 4% when compared to results from a year ago.
The state has brought in more than $1bn in total gaming revenue for more than three years, according to the report.
The downward trend in productivity continued last month, with the state reporting a fiscal year revenue total that is down by 5.5%.
Revenue on the Boulder Strip fell by 22.8% when compared to results from last August. The area reported a revenue total of $64.8m.
The Las Vegas Strip reported nearly $644m in revenue during the month of August. Revenue on the Strip fell by almost 3.5% year-over-year.
Downtown Las Vegas revenue reached $58.3m, down almost 9%.
The state collected close to $56.7m in taxes, nearly 24% less than what the state brought in a year ago.
In other Nevada news, the state’s Supreme Court recently ended a six-year defamation lawsuit involving Steve Wynn and the Associated Press.
The former CEO sued the AP back in 2018, claiming that the news outlet defamed him when it published a story regarding two women who alleged that Wynn had committed sexual misconduct.
