Ohio reports $55.1m in sports betting revenue during July
Revenue for the month rose by close to $4m year-over-year.
The Ohio Control Commission has published its July sports gaming revenue report. The Buckeye State generated nearly $55.1m in revenue during the month.
Revenue rose by more than $4m when compared to results reported one year ago, which totaled $51.2m.
For July, the state’s online sports betting revenue reached $53.5m, while retail locations generated another more than $1.5m.
Ohio reported a total taxable revenue of $55.3m during July as well.
In addition to the monthly totals, the state gave an update on its results for the first seven months of 2024.
January continues to hold the title of the highest earning month this year, with total revenue surpassing the $100m mark and reaching $113.1m.
April and May came in as the second and third-highest-producing months for Ohio sports betting. Online and retail locations generated almost $74m in revenue during April and $67.3m in May.
So far this year, June ranks as Ohio’s lowest month.
Ohio welcomed legalized sports betting in January 2023. To date, more than 35 states in the US have opened legal regulated sports wagering markets since the Supreme Court overturned the previously established nationwide sports betting ban in 2018.
The Ohio Casino Control Commission recently submitted a new rule regarding promotions and bonuses.
The amendment states that promotions must be unambiguous and clear. “Terms and conditions that are full, accurate, concise, transparent, and do not contain misleading information,” the Commission stated.
More specifically, these offers need to include dates and times they are active and expire and must display rules of play, nature and value of awards or prizes, as well as what makes someone eligible.
