DraftKings has received a $19,000 fine in Connecticut following an investigation into a slot game glitch that occurred last year, according to a local report from CT Insider.
Several players began filing complaints regarding the slot game Deal or No Deal Banker’s Bonanza, which was developed by White Hat Gaming.
According to a report provided to local news by the state’s Department of Consumer Protection’s Gaming Division, 522 players in Connecticut played the game and walked away with no wins. The investigation found that not a single win came even after players hit the spin button 20,000 times.
An internal investigation was launched and revealed a glitch in the game. A computer error had set the game’s winning odds to zero.
After the error was discovered, DraftKings refunded the players involved a total of $23,909. However, the investigation revealed that DraftKings did not report the incent to the DCP until a week later.
A DraftKings spokesperson told local news the game’s error was limited to its Connecticut launch and “resulted from an error by the game’s developer.”
White Hat was issued a $3,500 fine because of the glitch.
DraftKings went on to note in a statement that the company has not had any similar issues with White Hat’s games.
The company said, “Our customers’ satisfaction and the integrity of our products are central to our success.
"We have robust measures to monitor potential payout issues and we investigate any concerns promptly. In the event of a game not functioning as intended, we ensure impacted customers are appropriately refunded."
