Arizona posts $454m June sports betting handle

The Arizona Department of Gaming has published its June sports betting results. During the month, the state’s sportsbooks accepted $454m in wagers, which reflected close to a 15.5% increase in activity when compared to results from one year ago.
In a breakdown of June’s overall handle, mobile sports betting contributed $449.6m to the state’s total, while retail locations brought in more than $4.4m.
Players placed the majority of the state’s mobile bets with two operators for June. DraftKings and FanDuel were the top earners during the month and took in more than $303m in wagers.
DraftKings took top spot as the highest earner during the month of June. The operator took in more than $153.9m in online bets, plus an additional nearly $1.6m in wagers from its retail locations.
FanDuel came in as a close second. Players placed more than $149m in online bets with FanDuel.
Other high-performing operators included BetMGM and Caesars, with online sports wagers that reached $51.7m and $28m respectively.
Arizona sports bettors walked away with almost $407m in winnings during the month of June. The state’s operators ended the month with close to $46.2m in total revenue; meanwhile, the state collected close to $3.2m in privilege fees.
Arizona has welcomed legal sports betting outside of Tribal gaming for nearly three years. The state first legalized sports wagers in April 2021 after Governor Doug Ducey signed the bill into law. The state debuted its sports wagering market in September 2021.
