Loto-Quebec to open hotel on grounds of the Casino de Montreal
The hotel will join two others as part of Loto-Quebéc’s real estate portfolio.
Loto-Québec has announced that it is set to begin construction on a 200-room hotel on the grounds of the Casino de Montréal in an effort to enhance the casino’s entertainment offerings.
The company has said that the project will respect Jean-Drapeau Park, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary, by taking a number of steps in the construction process.
The building design will be low-height and is set to blend in with its surroundings to preserve the natural beauty of the landscape, ensuring the highest sustainability standards are met. Revenues generated from the project are set to benefit the community in Québec.
Loto-Québec will be the sole owner of the hotel which is set to open in two to three years, with the project being valued at nearly CA$150m (US$112m).
Hilton Lac-Leamy and Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu were already part of Loto-Québec’s real estate portfolio prior to this project.
Minister of Tourism and Minister Responsible for the Lanaudière Region, Caroline Proulx, said: “The Casino de Montréal is a major tourist attraction that welcomes several million visitors annually. Adding a hotel on the casino grounds will enhance its attractiveness and further increase Montréal’s visibility on the world stage. This is great news as this project aligns perfectly with one of our goals, which is to continue developing the hotel offer. Tourism is a powerful economic development driver. It generates substantial benefits for our communities across Québec.”
In other Canadian news, Pollard Banknote has announced that it will be participating in the 2023 Gift Responsibility Campaign, joining a number of other lotteries and organizations across North America and around the world to raise awareness about the risks of underage gambling.
