Tribe plans new event center for Red Hawk Resort and Casino
The Bureau of Indian Affairs and county officials will now review the proposal that could add to the property’s other recent upgrades.
The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians of California has planned to add an event center to its Red Hawk Resort and Casino located just outside of Sacramento, California.
The casino property has already been undergoing an expansion, including the addition of a 156-room hotel and an entertainment complex called The Apex.
The casino currently has an 88,000-square-foot gaming floor with more than 2,100 slot machines and over 70 table games. The new Apex at Red Hawk features bowling, a virtual reality arcade, a go-karting track, a golf simulator, a sports bar and the Apex Grill.
According to local reports, the planned event center would be part of the 200 acres that the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians asked that the Federal Government place into trust in September, during a reclassification of the land for economic development, rather than for housing purposes.
Supervisors in El Dorado County must now review the application to the Bureau of Indian Affairs and will respond accordingly with how to proceed regarding the proposed event venue’s county tax rolls, land use and other predicted impacts on the area.
The proposal documents permitted show that the Tribe plans to develop an event center, but does not specify when groundbreaking or potential opening of the venue is slated for.
Other recent developments in California’s Tribal casino landscape include the Wilton Rancheria Tribe purchasing 20 acres of land near Sky River Casino (though no development plans have been released), as well as the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tejon planning to break ground later this year.
