California’s Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tejon has announced that it is expected to break ground by the end of the year, according to a recent company social media post.

The casino posted on Facebook and said groundbreaking could happen “sometime in December.” However, no dates have been released regarding an opening date. In addition to Facebook, the casino has set up an Instagram and posted renderings of the new facility.

The casino project first got the green light last year, according to a KGET local news report. Local and federal officials approved construction for the $600m destination to go up on 52 acres of land near Mettler, within a half-hour drive of Bakersfield.

In other company news, Hard Rock International (HRI), in collaboration with Mercan Properties, recently unveiled plans to open a new location in Portugal, the company’s latest move in its continuing global expansion plan. Hard Rock Hotel Algarve will be located close to Praia do Vau, Portimão, which is home to a marina, historic ports and the Algarve International Autodrome.

Construction is scheduled to start early next year, and HRI anticipates the new destination will open during the summer of 2026. Once completed, Hard Rock Hotel Algarve will offer its guests close to 275 luxury-style hotel rooms, as well as another 150 branded serviced apartments.

Visitors to the new resort will have easy access to the beach and will be able to take advantage of several Hard Rock amenities that include three bars, three restaurants, three exterior pools, as well as access to spas, a gym, sports arena and beach club.
