Indiana sports betting handle sets record in October

$230m wagered tops mark set one month prior.
Sports betting handle for operators in Indiana set a record for the second consecutive month in October.
Bettors wagered more than $230m last month, exceeding the previous record handle of $207m set in September. Prior to September, the top month had been $187m in February.
The Indiana Gaming Commission said the top sport for wagering in October was football, with bettors staking more than $87m. That figure was up sharply from the previous month, with $48m being wagered on football.
Sports bettors placed $26m in wagers on baseball in October, $10m on basketball and a total of $45m on all other sports.
Ameristar Casino had the largest handle in October with $97m, followed by Blue Chip Casino with $65m, Belterra Casino with $20m and Hollywood Lawrenceburg with $18m.
The Indiana Gaming Commission reported it collected more than $2m in sports wagering tax during October, part of $37m in total wagering taxes collected.
