New Las Vegas skyscraper construction project gains FAA approval

The new structure will be built at the Casino Royale site on the Strip.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved the construction of a 699-foot skyscraper on the Las Vegas Strip. The new structure will be built at the Casino Royale site, according to a local report in the Las Vegas Review Journal.
The FAA-approved and Casino Royale-sponsored study provided details stating that “determination becomes final on August 30, 2023 unless a petition is timely filed.”
Approval for the structure expires January 21 2025, according to the FAA study, which means construction on the new skyscraper must start before the expiration date.
Once completed, the new structure would be located behind the Strat and Fontainebleau, which is scheduled to open later this year. Fontainebleau Las Vegas will contain a 67-story hotel, as well as gaming, entertainment and meeting space. The resort will occupy 25 acres and more than nine million total square feet.
According to the local report, Casino Royale would need to be demolished to provide space for the new skyscraper.
An 11-page public notice outlined additional project details. The document stated, “The proposed structure is in close vicinity to substantial, frequent helicopter air tour operations at LAS (Harry Reid International Airport) and the Las Vegas Strip” and is “under investigation and seeking public input.”
The notice went on to add that another form needs to be filed with the FAA at least 10 days before construction begins and within five days once the structure reaches its maximum height.
Clark County has not yet received any filed plans for the construction project, according to the local report.
