Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board issues $67,500 in fines to three casinos
The board also banned seven adults from state casinos for leaving minors unattended.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) recently levied $67,500 in casino fines after the Office of Enforcement Counsel (OEC) presented three consent agreements. Three casinos were issued the fines for violations that included “leaving minors unattended on the gaming floor.”
Downs Racing LP, which operates Mohegan Pennsylvania, received the largest fine of the three, to the tune of $50,000. The casino was reported for two incidents of “allowing individuals under the age of 21 to gain access to the gaming floor.” During one incident, the underage individual was also served alcohol.
Rivers Casino Pittsburgh, operated by Holdings Acquisition LP, was issued a $10,000 fine for also allowing someone under 21 to access its gaming floor and gamble.
Rivers Casino Philadelphia was fined $7,500 because it allowed an employee to deal roulette who was not properly trained. The casino is operated by Sugarhouse HSP Gaming, L.P.
The Board also took action on OEC petitions to “ban seven adults from all casinos in the Commonwealth for leaving a total of nine minors unattended in order to engage in gaming activities.”
One incident involved a male patron who left an 11-month-old child in the car unattended at Rivers Casino Philadelphia. The man spent 42 minutes playing table games inside the casino while the child stayed in the parking lot.
The PGCB said in a statement regarding the recent exclusions, “The Board’s actions serve as a reminder that adults are prohibited from leaving minors unattended in the parking lot or garage, a hotel, or other venues at a casino since it creates a potentially unsafe and dangerous environment for the children.
“Leaving minors unattended at a Pennsylvania casino also subjects the offending adult to criminal prosecution in addition to exclusion from all Pennsylvania casinos.”
