Shoshoni Tribe partners with Mullen Automotive for Harrah’s Northern California Casino EV program
The duo said it hopes the program will motivate other groups to follow suit.
Electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Mullen Automotive has partnered with the Shoshoni Native American Tribe of Northern California and Nevada to institute an EV cargo van program at Harrah’s Northern California Resort & Casino.
The pilot program will “evaluate the Mullen Class 1 cargo vans and campus EVs in several use cases across Harrah’s daily operations.”
The project represents a collaboration between both groups to move toward “a greener future.” The duo said it hopes the pilot program can serve as a model that other organizations moving toward environmental consciousness can adopt.
Shoshoni Tribe President and CEO, Chief William Bills, said the Tribe’s move toward EVs is part of a larger multi-tribe initiative.
He explained further by saying, “Our tribe’s vision to transition to electric-powered vehicles and sustain green initiatives is in line with the National EV Initiative for Tribal Nations. The collaboration between the Shoshoni tribe and Mullen aligns with the national initiative and serves as a powerful example for other tribal nations to follow.
“By showcasing the successful integration of electric vehicles into our operations, the Shoshoni tribe can inspire and encourage other tribes to explore sustainable transportation options.”
Mullen Automotive Chairman and CEO David Michery also expressed his desire to see other groups following in the Tribe’s footsteps toward a greener future.
He commented, “The Shoshoni tribe is committed to a greener future, and we need more communities to follow their lead.
“With each commercial pilot program and subsequent orders, we gather valuable feedback and data on the performance of the Mullen EVs, which is utilized to improve our vehicles further.”
