Attendance record for World Series of Poker broken in Las Vegas
At the World Series of Poker, a new record has been hit for the largest attendance and more records are expected to be broken.

For poker fans, July 6 was a historic day. The World Series of Poker’s Main Event has broken its record for the highest total of players there yet, with 9,000 entrants.
Previously the record stood at 8,773. With this event, the World Champion of Poker will be decided. With this title, the winner will earn a “seat for life” for the next 30 years at this event.
The registration will officially close at 4:30pm on Saturday, July 8.
The World Series of Poker has awarded prize money worth over $3.63bn over the years. The winner also receives a gold bracelet which many poker players recognize as one of sport’s top prizes.
WSOP SVP and Executive Director Ty Stewart stated, “This is a colossal day not only in the history of the WSOP but for poker itself. It’s particularly special to make history in our first year at the new Horseshoe Las Vegas.
“I think today is a huge testament to the passion of the entire poker community who rallies around this event every year. We’re hoping this record is short-lived and we’ll be ready for another monster turnout next summer.”
This 2023 competition is expected to break all records including participation, entrants and the total prize money by the conclusion of the tournament on July 18.
