Las Vegas airport slot operator reaches $1bn revenue milestone
Airport Slot Concession has partnered with the Harry Reid International Airport since 1986.
Airport Slot Concession Inc. has surpassed a company milestone by exceeding $1bn in all-time revenue. The company operates slot machines at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas.
The company has grown throughout its 36-year history, with the airport to operate more than 1,400 slot machines. The two joined forces in 1986.
On average, Airport Slot Concession generates close to $40m in annual gross revenue from its Harry Reid International slot machines. The company said the airport retains a large portion of those dollars.
Scott Kichline, the airport’s Assistant Director for Business and Commercial Development, noted the importance of nonaviation revenue and said it is “beneficial in that it helps to lessen our costs for air carriers.”
Airport Slot Concession Inc. is owned and operated by Michael Gaughan. He also owns South Point and is the son of Las Vegas casino owner and operator Jackie Gaughan.
Harry Reid International Airport has been running since 1947 and is located about five miles from downtown Las Vegas. It serves as the main government airport in the Las Vegas Valley for public use.
Formerly known as McCarran Airport, the facility welcomes air traffic from several large airlines, including Allegiant Air, Frontier Airlines, JSX, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines and Sun Country Airlines.
Registered travel was nearly cut in half during the Covid-19 pandemic, with nearly 22.2 million passengers coming through during 2020. The airport handled almost 40 million passengers during 2021, almost 10 million less than its total travel roster in 2019.
