Formosa regulator presents initiatives at CIBELAE Congress

The Social Assistance Institute (IAS) of Argentina’s Formosa province presented its responsible gaming and problem gambling prevention initiatives at the XIX CIBELAE Congress in Asunción, Paraguay. 

The institute also signed a cooperation pledge to strengthen joint efforts against illegal gambling.

Edgar Pérez, General Administrator of IAS, represented the organization as a speaker on the panel “The Social Role of Lotteries,” where he outlined Formosa’s social responsibility policies developed in coordination with provincial government agencies under Governor Gildo Insfrán.

Pérez highlighted IAS programs such as the Provincial Equinotherapy Program, which provides comprehensive care for children with disabilities and is the only initiative of its kind in Argentina. He also emphasized the role of the Scientific and Technological Center, whose developments support beneficiary stimulation processes, and the Consuma Conciencia program, a responsible gaming initiative focused on prevention and cognitive training.

Authorities and representatives from Paraguay acknowledged the social impact of Formosa’s work and the coherence of its policy model. During the congress, IAS formalized its commitment to deepen cooperation with other organizations and advance joint mechanisms to combat illegal gambling, reinforcing its role in promoting legal and responsible gaming.

IAS has also expanded its prevention strategy through educational initiatives. In collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Banco Formosa Foundation, the institute delivered a workshop series titled “Beyond the Game: Impact of Problem Gambling on School Life,” aimed at teachers. The training offered practical tools for educators working with children and adolescents in school settings.

The program adopted a comprehensive approach, addressing psychological and financial aspects of problem gambling to equip teachers and volunteers with classroom strategies. The initiative seeks to raise awareness, promote dialogue and help prevent risky behaviors among students.
