Brazilian subcommittee to hold hearing on sports betting advertising rules

Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies will host a public hearing to address the regulation of sports betting advertising. 

The session will be conducted by the Subcommittee on the Regulation of Sports Betting, which is part of the Permanent Committee on Sports.

The hearing will focus on the impact of betting ads across media channels, including television, digital platforms and sports sponsorships. 

Legislators, communication specialists and representatives that are part of the betting sector are expected to attend and offer input on current practices and potential restrictions.

According to the subcommittee, the goal of the discussion is to balance the economic benefits of the regulated betting industry with public health and consumer protection concerns. 

The subcommittee is chaired by Deputy Júlio Arcoverde and has been active in reviewing various aspects of Brazil’s new betting framework, trying to compromise what’s best for both consumers and operators.
