Detroit casinos generate $101m of revenue for June 2025

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has reported the financial performance of the state’s casinos throughout June 2025, as total revenue decreased by 4.2% from the prior year period for a total of $101m.
In terms of market share for the three casinos which report to the MGCB, MGM Grand Detroit led the way with 48%, while MotorCity Casino and Hollywood Casino at Greektown accounted for 31% and 21%, respectively.
Despite generating nearly $100.4m of the total revenue reported for June 2025, table game and slot revenue decreased by 4% from the prior year period and 11% when compared to May 2025. Throughout the first half of 2025, table game and slot revenue fell by 0.8% year-over-year, as the three properties paid $8.1m in state gaming taxes for June 2025.
MGM Grand Detroit managed to produce just over $48.4m of table game and slot revenue for the period, falling by 0.6% from the prior year period while MotorCity Casino generated $30.6m for a fall of 2.7% year-over-year. Hollywood Casino at Greektown witnessed a significant decrease in table game and slot revenue of 12.5% from the prior year period, having produced $21.3m in June 2025.
For retail sports betting, the MGCB reported a monthly handle of $7.2m, resulting in gross receipts of $666,374 for June 2025 and representing a decrease of 25.1% from the prior year period as well as 48.1% month-over-month.

The casinos paid just $25,153 in state taxes from retail sports betting revenue and submitted $30,743 in wagering taxes to the City of Detroit, led by MGM Grand Detroit which generated nearly $257,400 of retail sports betting revenue.
Fantasy contest operators currently conducting business throughout Michigan reported $716,927 in adjusted revenues for May 2025 and paid $60,222 in taxes to the City of Detroit.
