Brazil Ministries agree to enhance betting monitor system

The objective of the agreement is to ‘accelerate the development’ of Sigap functionalities and to improve the efficiency of monitoring the country’s betting market.
Key Points
- Sigap is a digital system that receives information on all authorization requests accepted by Brazil’s federal government as well as any bets processed by operators
- One of the reported actions planned for the country’s MGI is to hire four temporary employees and allocate each to the Sigap development project
Brazil’s Ministry of Finance (MF) and Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI) signed a technical cooperation agreement (ACT) on July 3 that will look to improve the country’s betting monitoring system throughout the next 18 months.
The bet management system (Sigap) is a digital structure which receives all information regarding authorization requests to the country’s federal government as well as any bets accepted by operators conducting business in Brazil.
The objective of the ACT is to “accelerate the development” of Sigap functionalities while improving the efficiency of monitoring bets and publishing information to “fulfill the federal government’s commitment to the transparency of its actions.”
One of the actions planned for Brazil’s MGI is to hire four temporary employees and allocate each to the Sigap development project.
Good to know: Brazil’s Ministry of Finance authorized two new operators to explore fixed-odds betting in the country on June 23, expanding the list of licensed companies under the nation’s formal gambling framework
The agreement will not include the transfer of resources between the two Ministries, as expenses generated from the project will be covered within the budgets of each.
The ACT will be in effect for 18 months from the time of signing, officially agreed upon by MF Dario Carnevalli Durigan and MGI Cristina Kiomi Mori.
