Key Points
- Enhanced accessibility features include compatibility with assistive technologies, a high-contrast color palette and an accessible heads-up display
- To develop the first-of-its-kind online slot game, OLG collaborated with Pixiu Gaming, Light & Wonder Spark and Fable
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has released a first-of-its-kind online slot game, Red Panda Tails of Wealth, designed with built-in accessible features to support players with disabilities.
“We are excited to launch Red Panda Tails of Wealth on olg.ca, which is the result of a focused effort to put accessibility at the forefront of game design,” OLG Chief Gaming Officer Dave Pridmore said.
“The game is a proof of concept that shows how removing barriers to play can move us towards a more inclusive future in the gaming industry.”
Red Panda Tails of Wealth helps to support players with disability by offering key accessibility features such as compatibility with assistive technologies like screen readers and keyboard navigation, a high-contrast color palette for enhanced visibility and a heads-up display built to integrate seamlessly into future games.
To develop the game, OLG collaborated with Pixiu Gaming and Light & Wonder Spark, as well as with Fable, a Toronto-based company connecting organizations to people with disabilities for digital accessibility insights.
Good to know: High Roller Technologies submitted its gaming license application to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario on May 27, aiming to launch operations in Canada’s largest iGaming market by the second half of 2025
“Our mission at Fable is to empower people with disabilities to participate, contribute and shape society – and this is how true accessibility is achieved,” Fable Head of Innovation Kate Kalcevich said.
“We’re thrilled to partner with OLG, who recognize the importance of embedding the voices and experiences of people with disabilities throughout the development of their new game.”
As nearly 28% of Ontarians report a disability according to the OLG, the launch of Red Panda Tails of Wealth hopes to provide “more equitable access to play for an often-overlooked audience.”
