The state of West Virginia recently awarded an interim online gaming and mobile sports betting license to mobile gambling operator, VIP Play.
The company was approved following its recently announced partnership with Delaware North’s Wheeling Island Casino.
VIP Play said in a statement, “This milestone marks the company’s initial expansion beyond Tennessee, where it currently operates as a mobile sports wagering operator.
“The interim license in West Virginia also adds iGaming to the company’s book of business and allows VIP Play to participate in the rapidly expanding iGaming industry.”
The company anticipates it will offer its products to customers in West Virginia “in the coming months.”

Along with the District of Columbia, sports wagering is legal and available in 38 states. However, the legal online gaming market has not experienced the same explosive expansion as sports betting.
To date, online gaming is legal in some form in seven US states, although some of those have limited access, such as online poker only.
States with legal iGaming access include Pennsylvania, Delaware, Nevada, New Jersey, Rhode Island, West Virginia and Connecticut.
