Delaware sports wagering generates $23.8m January handle
Sales dropped month-over-month but rose year-over-year.

Delaware has published its sports lottery report for the month of January. Players in the First State purchased close to 1.1 million tickets last month.
Bets placed by players around the state reached $23.8 m last month, down close to $5m when compared to results posted in December. Delaware’s January handle grew by more than $3m year-over-year.
Players walked away with nearly $20.8m in winnings last month.
Net proceeds reached more than $1.7m during January. The state share during the month reached more than $0.9m.
Delaware Park ended the first month of 2025 as the state’s top earner. Sports sales at Delaware Park accounted for more than half of the state’s December handle and reached $14.7m during the month.
Harrington grabbed the second-place spot and reported monthly sales of $4.6m.
Bally’s Dover and local retailers grabbed third and fourth place when it came to last month’s sports sales. Sales from Bally’s Dover reached almost $2.3m, while local retailers posted sales that reached $2.4m.
Voters in Missouri pulled the lever in favor of a legal sports wagering market during this week’s election, bringing the state one step closer to becoming the next state to offer players access to legalized sports betting.
State regulators estimate that a market could be open by this summer.
To date, 38 states have welcomed regulated sports betting since the US Supreme Court overturned the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 (PASPA) in May 2018, also known as the Bradley Act.
