Kansas sports betting revenues down 56.2% in December

The Kansas Lottery has released financial results for December for both sports betting and for casino gaming in the state.
Starting off with sports betting, total revenue in the state reached $8.79m, showing a significant drop of 56.2% year-over-year.
Both segments of sports betting operations experienced a fall, with total revenue from retail sports betting going from $808,961 in December 2023 to $75,037 in December 2024, while online sports betting saw revenue decrease by 54.7%.
Looking individually, none of the providers experienced growth in terms of revenue.
These results come despite the fact that total settled wagers in December 2023 were worth $259.7m and in December 2024 this figure rose to $261.3m.

Looking at casino gaming, total revenue during December reached $37.1m, representing a small decrease of 0.9% when compared to the figure recorded in December 2023.
Of the state’s four casino operations, Hollywood Casino and Kansas Crossing Casino were the only two to experience growth in revenue, with figures rising 1.3% to just shy of $15m and 5.5% to $3.51m respectively.
On the other hand Boot Hill Casino saw its revenue drop by 5.9% to $4.12m, while Kansas Star Casino saw a decline of 3% to $14.5m.
These results contrast to November’s numbers where casino revenue was up 12.2% year-over-year, while sports betting revenue was up 185.9% compared to November 2023.
