The Michigan Gaming Control Board’s (MGCB) Executive Director Henry Williams has issued a public reminder to Michigan players to practice responsible gaming during the height of football season.
“With the growing popularity of online gaming, it is essential to prioritize responsible gaming practices to ensure a safe, enjoyable experience for all participants,” the board said in an online statement.
“Don’t Regret the Bet” was launched last year and was designed as an integrated marketing campaign “to prevent gambling problems before they start and reduce the number of people in Michigan who develop a serious gambling addiction.”
The campaign was the result of a collaborative effort between the MGCB, King Media and Detroit’s Cutters Studios.
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences gave the regulator the Michigan Chapter Emmy Award based on its success in the Graphic Arts – Motion Graphics category.
Good to know: “Don’t Regret the Bet” recently earned an Emmy
In addition to encouraging responsible wagering, Williams took a moment to discuss the state’s most recent responsible gaming ad campaign.
He commented, “The Michigan Gaming Control Board is committed to promoting responsible gaming initiatives and ensuring the well-being of residents through its Emmy Award-winning and prominent ‘Don’t Regret the Bet’ campaign, which is aimed at educating and protecting individuals from the potential harms of excessive wagering.
“In line with this commitment, the agency provides resources and support for individuals who may be struggling with self-regulation.”
As part of its effort to foster a safe gambling environment for Michigan players, the board has published tips for safe gambling that pertain to both college students and adults.
Some of these include sticking to a previously established budget, avoiding placing bets when under the influence of alcohol or peer pressure, participating in other hobbies that don’t involve gambling, taking breaks from wagering when needed, not wagering more than affordable and not chasing losses.
