PlayPause self-exclusion tool launches in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania is to become the first US jurisdiction to deploy national gambling self-exclusion tool PlayPause.

Conscious Gaming and the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) announced the launch will take place tomorrow on 23 December in the state, with the aim to modernize and strengthen the effectiveness of responsible gaming in the US.

PlayPause will be available at no cost to operators and regulators via GeoComply’s new non-profit organization Conscious Gaming, which allows players to self-exclude from gaming across multiple states.

The solution is designed for regulators and operators in one state to identify self-excluded players who participate in the program with other US participating licensees, and streamlining state-operated self-exclusion databases into one single integration point.

Conscious Gaming trustee and GeoComply chairman and co-founder Anna Sainsbury, said: “We are thrilled to see our vision for a national self-exclusion tool come to life with Pennsylvania’s PlayPause launch. PGCB director of the office of compulsive and problem gambling Elizabeth Lanza, added: “By integrating with this solution, the industry and regulators can increase wellbeing efforts and advance the effectiveness of self-exclusion.”

GeoComply already provides PGCB licensees with a geolocation service which blocks online gaming participation when a player is outside Commonwealth borders.

Last month, Entain (formerly known as GVC Holdings) was named as the first official partner of PlayPause through its MGM Resorts joint venture, BetMGM.
